Quilt it Already begins November 7

We’re creating *Quilt It Already!* together, adding new lessons each week as we work through four different quilt tops. You can join at any time and follow along as we plan and stitch a variety of free motion quilting designs. Lessons are expected to begin around November 6, with new lessons added weekly until all four quilts are finished.

Quilt It Already! - A Free Motion Quilting Series

You've made the quilt top. Now let's get it quilted!

We've all got them. Those beautiful quilt tops folded up in the closet, just waiting for their turn to be quilted.

In Quilt It Already!, we're pulling four unfinished quilt tops out of my closet and finally getting them quilted!

Together, we'll look at each quilt, create a quilting plan, choose our designs, and work through the actual quilting process. From simple all-over quilting to more detailed custom designs, you'll learn how to approach different quilt tops and decide what works best for each one.

Four quilt patterns are included, so you can make the same quilts I'm working on, or you can bring your own unfinished quilt tops and apply what you learn to your projects.

Let's get those quilts quilted already!

What we'll be quilting

  • Faefolk — All-Over Free Motion Quilting - We'll explore how to choose and stitch flowing, continuous quilting designs across a busy quilt top. The focus will be on creating beautiful texture without competing with the piecing.

  • Fernweh — Foreground & Background Quilting - Those large star blocks give us plenty of room to explore custom quilting. We'll look at how to choose different designs for the foreground and background and make them work together.

  • Carolina Mingle — Combining Quilting Techniques - We'll combine straight-line quilting with free motion designs, using the large geometric shapes and open background spaces to create contrast and interest.

  • Mariposa — Custom Quilting & Borders - We'll explore quilting the butterfly blocks and surrounding spaces, including a flowing, wavy feather border that adds a beautiful finishing detail.

How the class works

Four Quilts. Four Quilting Plans. Lots of Possibilities.

Each quilt has its own chapter, where we'll work through the quilting process from planning to the final stitches. We'll begin by looking at the quilt top and considering different quilting options. Then we'll make a plan, choose our designs, and break the quilting into manageable lessons so you can follow along. You'll see the actual quilting process, not just a quick demonstration of a design on a practice sample. Each quilt chapter includes: An optional PDF quilt pattern download, A detailed quilting-planning lesson, Step-by-step free motion quilting demonstrations, Practical tips for working through the quilt You can work through all four projects or focus on the techniques that best suit your own unfinished quilts.

Is This Class for You?

This class is for quilters who are comfortable using their sewing machines and ready to put their free motion quilting skills to work on full-sized quilts. Whether you've practiced free motion quilting before but aren't sure how to approach an entire quilt, or you're looking to expand your quilting skills with new techniques and ideas, there's plenty to explore. You don't need to have four quilts ready. Start with one unfinished quilt top and work at your own pace. The goal is to help you feel more confident choosing quilting designs, creating a plan, and getting your quilts finished.
