Morning Rising Mini Quilt Class is currently in progress.

We’re creating this class together, adding new lessons each week as we move through the project. You can join at any time and follow along as we build and finish the quilt step-by-step. Lessons begin May 15 and will continue until the class is complete.

What you’ll make

Confident beginner

In this class, you’ll create the Morning Rising mini quilt, a small 12" x 12" quilt featuring a double-point Dresden plate set against a quilted background. This project combines piecing, straight line quilting, and two different approaches for attaching and quilting the Dresden, giving you flexibility in how you finish your quilt. By the end of class, you’ll have a finished mini quilt ready to hang and enjoy.

What you’ll learn

In this class, you’ll learn how to:

  • Piece a nine-patch background block

  • Cut and sew double-point Dresden blades

  • Use a Hera marker for straight line quilting

  • Quilt with a walking foot

  • Attach and quilt a Dresden plate using two different methods

  • Finish and hang your mini quilt using fabric or ribbon loops

What you’ll need

You’ll need fabric for the background and Dresden plate, along with batting and backing. You’ll also need a small wooden dowel for hanging your finished mini quilt. This class also uses either a Dresden ruler or the included Dresden template, along with basic quilting supplies and a walking foot for quilting.

How the class works

This class is designed to be approachable while giving you room to build new skills. You’ll have access to step-by-step video lessons that you can watch at your own pace, along with a downloadable pattern included with the class. We’ll piece the background, quilt it, build the Dresden plate, and then finish the mini using your choice of quilting method.
